Nancy Hipp

Nancy_Hipp-phoHOhct8_02272013_optDescribe your volunteer activities at HCT:
I volunteer as a bird nest box monitor, herring counter, member of the Boundary Quest team and removing trash from HCT properties.

How long have you volunteered?
5 years

What do you like most about it, memorable moments?
I enjoy being outdoors, working with the other volunteers.  Although there have been many memorable moments, being at Bank Street Bogs Nature Preserve seeing bluebirds again for the first time in over 40 years was thrilling.

What’s special about Harwich?
What’s not special about Harwich!  All the open space encompassing many ecosystems just adds to the quality of life here.

What do you when not at HCT?
My work years were spent as a Registered Dietitian with a specialty in management.  I also owned a rare and unusual plant nursery for 30 years (hobby turned into a business).

What else do you like to do for fun or other activities or volunteering?
Besides volunteering for HCT, I monitor salt marshes for APCC, work with the Senior Environmental Corp, and spend quite a bit of time at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in many different roles.  As a member of the Garden Club of Harwich, I especially enjoy helping to maintain gardens in town.
