Nestbox monitoring, data recording from our 79 blue bird boxes with Cornell’s Nestwatch program, counting herring on the run and eels on the ladder, searching for vernal pools, event helper, and property clean-ups certainly keep me busy.

How long have you volunteered?
I started volunteering circa 2007.

What do you like most about it, memorable moments?
I love seeing the animals and knowing we’re providing safe habitats for all to prosper.

What’s special about Harwich
My husband’s family came to Harwich over 70 years ago, Over the past 15 years, I don’t think I could have found a more environmentally friendly town or ideal location to live. The Harwich Conservation Trust fits my philosophy of the importance to preserve habitat.

What else do you like to do for fun or other activities or volunteering?
Veterinarian and loyal volunteer for several prestigious local non-for-profit organizations including Cape Cod Bird Club. Massachusetts Audubon is my second home where I’m involved with protecting diamondback terrapins and rescuing cold-stunned sea turtles.  I also do salamander surveys, osprey nesting data recording, coastal waterbird monitoring and related special projects.
