Irwin Schorr
Describe your volunteer activities at HCT:
I lead seasonal walks in the Hawks Nest State Park describing both the history and natural history of this important conservation land. I also enjoy sharing some anecdotal information along the way.
How long have you volunteered?
I’m not exactly sure. I think it is about 5 years now. Time flies when you’re having fun.
What do you like most about it, memorable moments?
Meeting new people is certainly one of my favorite things. Increasing my knowledge about the park and its environs is also high on my list.
What’s special about Harwich and why did you decide to make it home?
Retiring to Cape Cod was not my idea. It was my wife’s. Looking back, I could not be in a better place. The climate, location, and eclectic group of people living here make it special
What else do you like to do for fun or other activities or volunteering?
I volunteer at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History as a field guide, program presenter, trainer, and docent. I’m also a volunteer naturalist at MassAudubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
