Sharks of the North Atlantic Ocean with Dr. Tom Burns
Sponsored by Harwich Conservation Trust, please join us on February 11th for a shark photo odyssey to learn about fascinating research and close encounter experiences with Dr. Tom Burns. Enjoy images captured beneath the surface while diving with mysterious shark species near and far. With a focus on the western North Atlantic Ocean, learn how the water properties of the Gulf of Maine and the Gulf Stream attract these oceanic apex predators and hear about the threats facing sharks today.
Dr. Burns has been diving and photographing sharks for over 30 years and has experienced hundreds of hours of interactions with the most iconic shark species. He has spent almost 40 years studying sharks through formal and informal coursework while also leading shark related research projects in veterinary medicine. While his shark curiosity has taken him around the world, it’s the sharks of New England that have become a special focus.
