Run like a fish: How to enter the Harwich Herring Run 5K Trail Run & Walk

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a herring in the springtime, striving for the finish line? Well, here’s your chance! The first annual Harwich Herring Run 5K Trail Run & Walk is scheduled for Sunday, April 26th, and everyone is invited to join the mini-migration!

The event is presented by the Lower Cape Kiwanis Club and Monomoy Regional High School Key Club. Entry fees benefit the Lower Cape Kiwanis Scholarship Fund and Dream Day Camp on Cape Cod.

Harwich Herring Run 5K Trail Run & Walk details

The Harwich Herring Run 5K Trail Run & Walk will start at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 26th at the Cape Cod Rail Trail on Depot Street (just south of Big Rock Oysters, 501 Depot Street, Harwich). The professionally-timed trail route will circle the West Reservoir and eventually cross the town’s herring run. Runners and walkers are welcome at this fun, family event and participants are advised to take care while navigating the trails.

An after-run gathering will be held at The Seal Pub and Café (703 Main Street, Harwich Center). 

Harwich Herring Run 5K Trail Run & Walk entry information

Entry fees: $30 for entrants 18 and under on race day, $40 for entrants 19 and older on race day. 

To register: Entry fees can be paid to Lower Cape Kiwanis Fund (LCKF) a 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt organization. Registration and fees can be sent to P.O. Box 455, Orleans, MA 02653 or dropped off in a sealed envelope at The Seal Pub and Café (703 Main Street, Harwich Center).  To download a printable entry form, click here.
