Harwich Conservation Trust Land Stewardship Volunteers Partner with Eversource to Reduce Herbicide Use

Each Tuesday morning, Harwich Conservation Trust (HCT) volunteers work on land stewardship projects ranging from trail maintenance to habitat restoration. The past two Tuesdays, HCT Land Stewardship volunteers made great progress trimming vegetation in the electric utility line easements that cross the D. Isabel Smith Monomoy River Conservation Lands and Pleasant Bay Woodlands. In an effort to reduce their herbicide use beneath electric lines, Eversource has partnered with HCT volunteers who use loppers and hand saws to keep vegetation at a low height as an eco-friendly way of maintaining access.
Thank you to the dedicated volunteers for all of their hard work keeping trails open and inviting as well as maintaining native habitat for wildlife!
