Harwich Conservation Trust seeks TerraCorps candidates for 11-month position
Do you want to serve your community while protecting the environment and getting professional experience with the Harwich Conservation Trust (HCT)?
HCT has been chosen as a TerraCorps Service Site and is seeking candidates for a Land Stewardship Coordinator (LSC) position.
TerraCorps is an AmeriCorps affiliated nonprofit preparing and mobilizing the next generation of emerging leaders committed to making a difference at the community level.
The LSC will work with HCT’s Director of Land Stewardship to manage volunteers on community service projects, educate or train individuals in environmental stewardship or environmentally conscious practices, and complete three capacity building projects.
Potential LSC projects include:
–Lead the Native Plants Project by planning and implementing native plantings on HCT properties, coordinating volunteer-supported site preparation and invasive species removal, and maintaining habitats that benefit native wildlife and pollinators.
–Develop a public outreach campaign that promotes native habitat restoration through educational walks, interpretive signage, and website and social media content focused on supporting wildlife and pollinators.
–Lead stewardship volunteers on at least two projects to maintain trails, remove invasive species, restore habitats, complete property improvement projects, and clear herring runs on HCT properties.
The TerraCorps 1,700-hour service member position at HCT runs from September 2026 through July 2027. Service members in the 2026-27 Service Year will receive:
—A biweekly living allowance, before taxes, that amounts to $27,750 for the full service term.
—A $7,395 AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon satisfactory completion of the service term.
—Health insurance coverage (if eligible).
—Childcare benefits (if eligible).
—Forbearance of most federally guaranteed student loans, and payment of interest accrued during service.
—Qualified eligibility SNAP/HIP benefits in Massachusetts.
—Mentorship, training, and career development opportunities while serving directly with community-based nonprofits.
—The personal rewards of national service and community engagement.
—Lifelong connections to a growing network of people and organizations.
