Venture into Coy's Brook Woodlands to learn about teeth, veins, and hair -- not body parts, but leaf characteristics that help distinguish tree species during the growing season. During this guided field class, naturalist Tom Walker will lead you through forested trails and teach you how to identify several of our native and naturalized trees. Tom may also discuss the shrubs, ferns, forbs (wildflowers), and anything else that sparks interest alongside the trail.

Tom Walker is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology. He spent several seasons surveying wildlife on the west coast for the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management prior to returning to New England. He has many natural history interests and has led walks and given presentations on lichens, fungi, trees, and dragonflies for several organizations.
