Discover migratory and resident bird species of the shore, salt marsh, and Nantucket Sound with Peter Trull on summer mornings at Red River Beach in South Harwich. Cape Cod is a migratory stopover for shorebirds like sandpipers, terns, plovers, and other species flying from the Arctic tundra to their southern wintering grounds. Year-round species also depend on our seaside habitats to find food and shelter. Learn field identification, adaptations, feeding habits, and natural history. Each excursion will likely feature different species as the summer progresses. If least terns are nesting, we’ll study some colonial seabird behavior.

*Please note that charges for parking will begin at the conclusion of the walk should you choose to extend your visit to Red River Beach.
