Discover migratory and resident bird species of the shore, salt marsh, and Nantucket Sound with naturalist and field guide author Peter Trull at Red River Beach in South Harwich.
Cape Cod is a migratory stopover for many species including shorebirds like sandpipers and plovers and wading birds like herons, egrets, and ibises. Year-round residents also depend on our seaside habitats to find food and shelter.
Learn about field identification, adaptations, feeding habits, and life histories. Each excursion will likely feature different species. If least terns are nesting, we’ll study some colonial seabird language and behavior.
