Join visual artist and teacher, Bernadette Waystack for an introduction to nature journaling. No experience necessary! We will use pictures, words and numbers to capture what we observe, but you don’t need to be an artist, author or mathematician. We will meet at Harwich Conservation Trust’s (HCT) Robert F. Smith Cold Brook Preserve to observe and document the flora and fauna. See how recent ecological restoration has transformed retired cranberry bogs into a wildlife oasis with rewilded wetland and stream habitats.

Please dress for the weather and bring a hat, sunscreen and bug spray.

Suggested journaling materials to bring:

• Blank notebook/journal approximately 5”x8” (or even a few sheets of printer paper folded in half and stapled is fine!)
• Pens, pencils, color pencils – whatever you prefer

Alternatively, a simple “starter kit” of materials is available for $5.

Please bring a reusable water bottle and light snack, if you wish. There are benches scattered throughout the Preserve, but you may bring along a folding chair if you would like.

Bernadette Corbett Waystack is a visual artist, teacher and Harwich resident who maintains a working studio space at “The 204” Cultural Arts Municipal Building. She recently completed her certification in Nature Journaling with the Wild Wonder Foundation. Primarily a landscape painter, her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions at Provincetown Art Association & Museum, Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod and Cotuit Center for the Arts. It can also be found in corporate and private collections regionally.
