Dragonflies and damselflies have been flying over wetlands, meadows, and woodlands for over 300 million years, making them one of the most primitive orders of insects found on Earth today. Join field naturalist and author Peter Trull at Sand Pond Woodlands to learn about these winged jewels. Have fun practicing how to identify characteristic field marks that distinguish species. Patience is key to recognize subtle differences. As the summer progresses, so will the diversity and flight times of the dragons and damsels. Folks are enjoying these safaris exploring the Sand Pond Woodlands and have spotted a variety of species! Bring binoculars and, if desired, a camera as well.
