Co-sponsored by Harwich Conservation Trust (HCT) and MassAudubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary (WBWS), join WBWS Science Coordinator Mark Faherty on a birding walk Saturday, April 24th (8-10 a.m.). The rich wetlands of Bells’ Neck Conservation Area offer some of the best spring birding on Cape Cod, with several species of shorebirds, waterfowl, wading birds, and songbirds possible. Birders of all abilities are welcome as we peruse this mix of woods and wetlands to identify every bird we see and hear. We’ll hope for less common species like Glossy Ibis, Bald Eagle, and Pectoral Sandpiper as we enjoy the expected Belted Kingfishers, Osprey (double digits possible), Greater Yellowlegs, Great and Snowy Egrets, and Pine Warblers. We’ll also look for evidence of river otter and other mammal tracks and sign. Mark will also offer tips on tuning up your birding ears for spring migration and bird photography for those interested.
