East Harwich Zoning Proposal: Workshop #2
East Harwich Zoning Proposal: Workshop #2
Wednesday, June 4th
6:30-9:00 p.m.
Harwich Community Center
Details further below.
For several years the town and different organizations have been studying various rezoning options for the East Harwich commercial district at the intersection of Routes 137 & 39. A Town Planning Board Subcommittee is presenting a rezoning proposal and seeking feedback during three public workshops. The first took place May 21st, the second is June 4th, and and the third is June 18th. All are held at the Harwich Community Center.
Among the issues to consider:
Is more more growth needed in East Harwich?
What is meant by “off-setting” proposed density increases in the Pleasant Bay Watershed with open space protection outside the Pleasant Bay Watershed?
What is the amount of commercially built square footage now compared to the additional growth allowed under current zoning as well as the additional future growth under the new proposal?
What are the potential impacts of more growth, especially within the already nitrogen-impaired Pleasant Bay Watershed?
How would proposed growth density increases impact wastewater treatment planning in the watershed?
